Communication
Partnerships between families and our staff benefit all involved, especially the
children. These partnerships lead to a sense of community where everyone feels valued and respected. Our program utilizes several ways to build partnerships with parents.
The two that are most apparent are communication and parent involvement.Communication, such as daily conversations with caregivers at drop-off and pick-up time, newsletters, emails and other written correspondence are vital elements of the program.
Parent Teacher Conferences are held twice a year and are also an essential part of your family's experience at The Elm Tree. These conferences are useful for discussing development, learning and socialization strengths or concerns, they are a time for parents and teachers to combine observations and brainstorm the best possible solutions for your child. They also provide you with a broader perspective on your
child's social and daily experiences in school.
Parent Involvement
Parent involvement consists of both service hours and attendance at social and community events.
Service Hours are opportunities for families to be involved in the program in a variety of ways. Helping in the classroom, making or repairing materials, organizing events, assisting with office duties, fundraising, yard or handy work or participating in a community event can all count towards required service hours.
Each family is asked to contribute the equivalent of one service hour per month during their child’s enrollment at the Elm Tree. Hours may be fulfilled at any time. Alternately, families who do not wish to participate in this way have the option of paying a fee of $25 per hour per month.
